Canon Character Information
Appearance: Natasha is a woman of many faces, but currently she is a fiery redhead. She knows she looks good, and she uses it. Her wardrobe centers usually on anything tight and revealing. She is 5'7" and weighs 131 pounds.
History: Natasha Romanoff/Black Widow
Natasha continued to train the New Avengers, alongside Steve. Steve became someone that she could rely on for anything, which is why even though she sided with Tony over the Accords, she still made the conscious choice to help Steve, Sam, and Bucky, despite siding with Tony. Natasha thought she was doing the best thing for the team, but in the end, she made a conscious choice that she could live with by helping Steve and crew escape, even though it meant they would come after her. She left Tony's side knowing that she did the right thing.

Natasha's biggest personality trait is her ability to focus. This comes from years of training in the Red Room, learning to control every nuance of herself. She was Turned into a weapon, which we learned about in Avengers: Age of Ultron She is task focused and lets very little enter into her mind, but her mission and the task at hand. Focus has become second nature to her, almost like a second skin, like breathing. She does it with ease and grace, just like a well-choreographed waltz. Her attention to detail and the mission allow her to remain detached enough to keep alert, and keep her eye on many moving balls. It keeps her out of danger in most situations, as does her ability to read people. She is quick to action, but through SHIELD, she is learning to temper her hair-trigger instinct.

Working for SHIELD has not been an easy road for Natasha, but then when has she ever taken the easy way out. When she met Clint Barton she was obviously still an assassin but Natasha made a choice, a choice to save Clint and survive, but SHIELD weren't killers, they were gatherers, so she had to switch gears. She learned after time and careful observation that all people were not a waste of space and could be useful if manipulated properly, and manipulate she did. She even went as far as to try and manage Banner in Calcutta. They say that a leopard can never really spots, and this works in the case of Nat's handling of Bruce's anger issues. A switch flipped when she draws her weapon, and it takes Bruce several tries to talk her down. It becomes a situation of role reversal, where they are both empathetic to the others situation, and this bonds them.

In all situations, she achieves a certain degree of reasonable control that allows her to keep calm in her decision-making and reserve her emotions. This placid projection can cause her to come across as unapproachable, though she isn't naturally unfriendly or intentionally intimidating.

In the right situations, surrounded by allies, Natasha's attitude borders on the sarcastic and teasing. She ribs Steve and Clint most notably, though there's a certain degree of sarcastic banter between herself and Tony, Thor, and Bruce as well. She prioritizes her mission when there is one, but that doesn't prevent her from taking a breather to appreciate a level of comfortable teamwork with those she best identifies with. On the other hand, she'll also be the one to reiterate the importance of the mission and yank them back on track.

A lot of Natasha's pride/confidence comes out of a place of being so entirely in control of herself. She doesn't let fear control her, as it does many others, instead she uses her fear as a motivator. She may be afraid of what might happen to Clint as a result of Loki's grab, but she uses that fear and translates it into determination. She will find and save Barton no matter what the cost. She uses Loki in a similar fashion. She appears to be weak until she gets what she wants, and then her true colors come out.

Natasha is the type of person that doesn't like to owe anyone anything. She sees it as her personal mission to repay all of her debts, the biggest one in her mind being to Barton. He could have killed her but chose not to. The choice is of utmost importance to Natasha, and so is repaying her debts. It is the reason why she will move heaven and earth to help Clint, and later on Steve. She often jokes alluding to the fact she is Russian, somehow that should put her loyalty into question, but those she is closest to, Barton, Fury, Rogers know different. They allowed her choice, so they have earned her debt and loyalty.

Fury especially has garnered that loyalty, becoming sort of a mentor to her, as seen in both Iron Man 2 and Captain America: The Winter Soldier. There is nothing that she wouldn't do for the man that gave her a second chance, including taking a bullet for and keeping secrets from her Captain, a person that from the very start trusted her instincts and relied on her knowledge to get them what they needed. She is not a dweller. She deals with situations, in a clipped, formal, detached manner, and then moves on, not wanting to focus on one thing for too long.

Steve and Natasha have a unique and interesting relationship. It is almost like a yin and yang type of thing. He is idealistic where she is cynical, but somehow through it all, they balance each other out and become friends and partners. Natasha has a knack for only thinking of Nat, but getting close and bonding with Steve allowed her the confidence to stand up to her past and not continue to run and hide from it. It would have been so easy for her to hide from HYDRA. Instead, she took a stand and stood at her friend's side, and gave her hope and a sense of belonging.

There is a softer side to Natasha that emerges during The Avengers: Age of Ultron. It is a side that is both feminine and likable. She is "Auntie Nat," A fact that stuns most if not all of the team on some level. She becomes the Hulk Whisperer, not because she had to but because she wanted to. She relates to Bruce on many levels and the trust that is present between the pair, show that they are connected. Natasha although stunned and hurt by Banner vanishing, knows on every level that he did what he had to do to protect them, and she respects him for it. She is not a woman that pines for anyone, so she carried on the way that she was trained to do.

Her relationship with Steve is something that forces Natasha to re-evaluate how she does things and relates to people. She knows on some level that what she and Tony are fighting for is wrong and that the Avengers have become so much more than just a rag-tag semblance of a team. It became a family, a family that is worth fighting for. That is exactly how she justified her decision to Tony, and why she went on the run again. She thought she was doing the right thing by playing it safe and quickly realized that she is not one to play it safe it slightest. She is conflicted throughout her interactions with Steve and Tony, only proving that Avengers have become more to Natasha than just a mission.

While Natasha has a great many positive traits or strengths, she has some negative ones as well. It could be termed weaknesses, but Natasha is loathed to call it that. In fact, she rarely admits to any weaknesses at all, and that is a weakness. One must remember that being trained as a soldier was ingrained into Natasha at a very young age courtesy of the Red Room. Madam, her handler stated in Age of Ultron "you must be strong not to be to be weak." That phrase shaped how Natasha thought and dealt with everything moving forward. It was easier for her not to admit that she had weaknesses than admit she might, and face the possibility of rejection. Her training in the Red Room took a long time to break, and unfortunately, parts of it never left her. That is the thing about the Red Room, is that it's purpose is to suck all of the humanity out of a person, and turn them into a soldier. A soldier, devoid of emotion and feeling. Natasha, since joining SHIELD has been trying to add it back, but she is well aware that it is one of her shortcomings.

She also has issues with letting people she likes to get close to her. She makes a conscious choice to hide behind her cool demeanor. She uses her warmth as a weapon, a tool; a means to an end to get what she wants. She can disassociate herself from humanity, become a hardened soldier, one that does not show emotion. She is a person that gets the job done. There is no room for emotion in war. She has survived a long time like that, but it is no way to live. She struggles every day to be a friend, but there is a definite learning curve. There are some points in Natasha's life where even she isn't sure where the fantasy ends and the real Natasha begins. It is a very fine line that often gets blurred. She says to Steve at one point in the beginning "Who do you want me to be?" That statement was supposed to be decoy but it really is the truth about who Natasha is. She doesn't know how to be anything other than what people need her to be in any given moment.

The problem with that line of thinking, however, is that when she does want to be close to someone, she is unable to let her guard down long enough to do so. Her biggest weakness is the fact that she doesn't know how to be a woman. Yes, she knows how to use her feminine wiles to get what she wants, but she doesn't know how to be feminine. An example can be seen when she is dealing with Tony, a man that she tolerates but she doesn't care what he thinks of her, she can be blunt and give his crap right back to him. Her dealings with Tony are almost on a buddy level, something that Natasha makes her uncomfortable. Steve, on the other hand, is someone that she deeply respects and admires, so her mannerisms in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, when she lays his life on the line for her is one of obvious discomfort. Natasha doesn't know why someone would have their life on the line for her when she most certainly would not do the same thing. The former Assassin doesn't understand Steve Rogers on the whole, but it is her relationship with Steve, and letting her guard down that allows her the possibility of a future with Bruce. Bruce Banner is someone she trusts and cares for implicitly. She is willing to accept him regardless of what he is or how much rage he as. Natasha's biggest weakness is her inability to let go of the soldier idea and grasp happiness while she can. She instead chooses to fight instead of sharing a life with Bruce away from war. Natasha pushed him off a cliff to induce a code green, shows that she does not know how to stand down. She will choose to fight every time. All of her strengths and weaknesses stem from her training in the Red Room and her Russian upbringing, but despite all of this she has met people along the way that have tempered her tendencies, but no one as of yet has fully eliminated them. She has issues with free will as well. She doesn't for one moment stop to think how Bruce would feel about have the choice to Hulk out away from him. She views free will as some sort of dream that other people get to have, but not her. She doesn't truly understand the consequences of her actions or the emotional fall-out until it is too late to stop it. She makes the statement "Do you think he'll help us?" And that is more talking about what she did to Bruce then he may not want to be around Ross again.

Samples - Can be linked
First Person:[The only sound that can be heard as the device clicks on, his the sound of Glock magazine clicking into place. Natasha turns and raises an eyebrow at the camera. She does not look impressed]
Can't say the ride over impressed me much. Flying boats? Really? Do you know what or who you have taken? [She laughed, almost.... it was a silent sort of laugh because Natasha Romanoff did not laugh at least not lately.]
I feel sorry for you.... I do. [Her face was determined, as she turned to fix something on her suit.]

I'm not one to sit around and do nothing.... I would say that would up Clint's alley. [Small smirk, as her face dropped] It's not like he can defend himself though can he? I am responsible for this. I have to help him.

[Damn that man, and his ability to make her feel guilty. He shouldn't be able to do that, but yet here she was worrying about him and the others.... her friends.]

It's funny really... I've spent my entire life running.... Now all I want to do is go home.

[She is shown leaning over and clicking off the device.]

Finally, out of the 4 words, pick one: Gravel?
